Born in Tenerife and based in Barcelona, Mar Loi has been exploring the realms of sound and diverse musical styles since 2017. Formerly a childhood facilitator, she transitioned into music, embracing her passion as a self-taught artist and street performer in the vibrant streets of Barcelona. Simultaneously, she honed her skills by completing a SoundArt course and collaborating with renowned musicians.

In 2020, Mar released her debut album, “Mercury Found Mars,” which marked her emergence as a celebrated handpan artist. This album paved the way for her European tour and established her as a prominent figure within the global handpan community.

Her latest album, “Grises,” released in 2023, offers an evocative auditory journey, weaving stories born from the pandemic era. This innovative work blends handpan compositions, percussion, electronics, bass, vocal recordings, and immersive soundscapes, showcasing Mar’s exceptional artistry and creative vision.

Deeply engaged with the Barcelona Handpan Community, Mar is an integral member of the Singading Team (Barcelona Handpan Gathering) and the Kurdeolian School. As a sought-after handpan teacher, she has been facilitating immersive weekend retreats in Spain and Switzerland since 2020, alongside conducting global workshops and personalized 1-to-1 learning experiences. Her expertise is also accessible online through her MasterClass on the MasterTheHandpan platform.
